Yo Lou the cat! Bum rush the show!

First!
Dear readers!

Lou and I are starting a new round of albums to download from the site. These are going to be a weekly series of four song EP's, and will feature a variety of musical styles. Just like free samples of food at Costco,

"No! Not free like Costco! Not free like free beer! Free like freedom!" says Lou.

EP 1:

1) 4:50 - "I Know You Got Soul" - Eric B. & Rakim
2) 2:17 - "Mouth Breather" - The Jesus Lizard
3) 6:56 - "Over the Ice" - The Field
4) 4:20 - "Into the Water" - Dethklok

download that shiz here.

Just unzip it and drag the whole folder onto iTunes where it says "playlist" on the side panel.

Next! Photoshop Wednesday!

Leopard.

Next!

We'd like to begin a series on albums that Lou the cat and Lou the person find particularly mind-blowing. These are albums that changed our life and made Lou the cat he is today.

Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

This album absolutely blew my mind. I looked up "best hip-hop album of all time" on google and It gave me my first introduction to hip hop. Chuck D. is just the sickest mc and Flava Flav is great too. They all collaborated on the production which is famous for having possibly the most samples of any album. It was produced just on the cusp of the age of copyright infringement issues in hip hop.

Lou was producing for Def Jam at the time under the alias of Hank Shocklee and he says it was a very creative atmosphere as they tried to match the music to the intensity of Chuck D's politically and socially charged flow.

In 2006 I was listening to this album non stop. One evening I was smooching with a girl in the back of my minivan while blasting public enemy. She told me that it wasn't very romantic and asked if we could switch, to which I responded: "nope."
